Five digits. One code. No luck.

How to play ?

What is the goal?

Find a five-digit secret code. Digits may repeat and leading zeros are part of the code.

How do you make a guess?

  1. Enter five digits from 00000 to 99999.
  2. Submit them to add wooden tiles to the history.
  3. Use the green and yellow counters to prepare the next code.

How do the counters work?

Correctly placed digitsThe green counter shows how many digits are correct and occupy the exact position.

Yellow counter showing 2

Misplaced digitsThe yellow counter shows how many digits belong to the secret code but occupy another position.

The counters describe the whole code without identifying which digits produced each result, so the keyboard remains wooden.

How are repeated digits counted?

Every occurrence is independent. Correct positions are counted first, then misplaced matches. A secret occurrence can be used only once.

Example: the secret code is 00012 and the guess is 30400.

Green: 1Yellow: 2

One zero is correctly placed and counts as green. Two other zeros occur elsewhere and count separately as yellow. Any extra occurrence beyond those in the secret code would not count.

Which guesses are accepted?

Every five-digit sequence is accepted. A repeated code is rejected and does not increment the number of guesses.

How do you win?

You win when the green counter reaches 5 and the yellow counter is 0. Guesses are unlimited.

How does the daily challenge work?

A new code becomes available every day at midnight, New York time. Progress is saved in this browser until the date changes.

OTadle is a web game platform offering daily challenges, created by Ayoub Yaqine. It brings together word, letter, number and card games that run directly in the browser.

How the project began

The algorithmic design of OTadle is an idea by Ayoub Yaqine, inspired by his experience with games such as Wordle, Nerdle, Mastermind and other deduction games. He imagined more complex variants that combine several mechanics and require different forms of reasoning.

The first version of the code was developed by Ayoub Yaqine. The project is now maintained by Codex.

The secret libraries behind the words

Every letter challenge is backed by years of linguistic research. OTadle does not choose from improvised word lists: its dictionaries were prepared from established research resources.
